Painted and sculpted works by Adam Henein, an artist representative of Egyptian art and its traditions. This book traces more than fifty years of creation.
Adam Henein (1929-2020) from the beginning, he preserved the values of his family and his country of origin, while being open to several cultures. His cultural roots and his artistic character interacted with the specters of Western modernity. He adhered to his experience of maturity in his native country while consciously and judiciously opening himself to the fundamental ideas that summarize the arts of contemporary modernity. He had the tendency to experiment with materials and stylistic formulations, and the freedom to move between the figurative and the conceptual, breaking the temporal boundaries of art. His rejection of any specific stylistic model crystallized in his personality, as he believed that “the artist who finds his style dies as an artist”.
His sculpture and painting have undergone successive transformations, from realism to reduction, to what approaches abstraction or surpasses it. He painted with colored natural oxides dissolved in acacia gum on papyrus paper to carve out a particular path in contemporary Egyptian and Arab painting, in which he combines heritage roots with his contemporary character.
Adam Henein’s art is a genetic imprint of his personality, his heritage and his deep knowledge of the creativity of the time, so his personality reflects this sophisticated, liberal and conservative mixture at the same time. To become a reference in the arts of sculpture and painting in Egypt.
