Alain Jacquet, 1939-2008, is a French artist of the 1960s, notably recognized for his introduction of pop art in France.

By taking the technique of screen printing, he gradually takes over the codes of Pop Art. This reproduction technique, often used in advertising allows him to familiarize himself with the point, which becomes a recurring problem in his creation. Using classic paintings such as Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe or Olympia by Manet, he updates these masterpieces in the same way as American advertising of the time.

The Luncheon on the Grass of 1964, made up like an advertising poster, became the emblem of his career with Pierre Restany, gallery owner and art critic staged in the middle of the composition.

This example is representative of diverting images from the history of art to reinsert them into its daily reality.
