Alvar Aalto Designer (Book) by Lahti Markku, Pallasmaa Juhani, collective. Very good condition, Translated by Jean-Michel Kalmbach. Hardcover book of 239 pages. 2003. Gallimard. Please allow 3 weeks for delivery. Thank you. French version.
During his long and prolific career, the Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) provided answers to both public problems: urban planning, theaters, churches, universities, and private: standard housing and private houses.
Its architecture is above all Finnish, but its specific characteristics with a close link with the environment, a human dimension, the treatment of materials and ingenious use of lighting, have ensured its notoriety and the dissemination of his work far beyond of the borders of Finland.
This work, based on information from previously unexploited archives, is the first overview of Aalto’s production as a designer. It makes it possible to specify the artist’s work from a structural point of view, his search for new lines and forms, while placing him in the sociological concerns that have always motivated him. A highlight of the sensitivity of this architect in terms of design, which extends with equal rigor and quality from the planning of large projects to furniture.
