The artist, Arman, is confronted here with a journalist, a sociologist and a photographer. In addition to the interview, there are “bonuses”: the three investigators try to restore his production conditions (network of relationships to approach the artist, remarks on the forms of interview, difference in perceptions and feelings, workshop, employees, home, etc.). They bring additional light to the artist’s words.
Result: the reader sees that an interview is not an autonomous text, that it is the intersection of different life trajectories at a given time when social roles were played. And that all maintenance is, in short, only the visible part of an iceberg. Readers should add their perception.
