Chantons Sous L’Occupation (Book) by Isabelle Doré-Rivé.  New – in blister. French texts. 2004. Somogy Editions d’Art. 64 pages.

Let’s sing under the occupation. The French sang during the dark years from 1939 to 1945, pre-war variety songs or on the restrictions and the absence of prisoners. The song served all causes, both good and bad. A vector of Vichy’s propaganda, submitted to German and French censors, it also managed to resist. From this time, are kept photographs of artists, radio programs, illustrated scores, posters evoking Joséphine Baker, Maurice Chevalier, Marlène Dietrich, Fernandel, Mistinguett, Edith Piaf or Tino Rossi. Through the pages, we revisit the history of this period in an intimate and moving way.
