Charles Commessy photographer, 1856-1941 (Book) New in blister, Somogy éditions d’art, 2003. 118 pages, paperback. French texts.
Charles Commessy reproduced the daily life of our peasant, craftsman and village ancestors. He also photographed schoolchildren and soldiers of the First World War, or even the vagabonds who crisscrossed our countryside. This amateur photographer from the Beauvais region was recognized by his peers at the end of the 19th century and well beyond the circle of photography enthusiasts and historians.
Most of his photographic production has been saved and carefully preserved in private collections and in the Departmental Archives of Oise. Nearly a hundred of his photographs have been selected to allow the public to appreciate the technical and artistic qualities, as well as the historical value of the work of this great photographer.
