Kept like a true treasure in huge safes at constant temperature, there are in total more than 9,000 stage costumes and their accessories (jewelry, hairstyles, bags, shoes.) that the Moulins National Stage Costume Center keeps. For the first time, this unique place in the world provides access, through this work, to all of its archives. Throughout the pages, the magic of the prestigious stage costumes of the main emblematic characters of a show is revealed in images.

Thus more than 500 stage costumes, formerly worn by exceptional artists (from Nureyev to Callas via Isabelle Adjani, Teresa Berganza, Montserra Caballé, Nathalie Dessay or Sarah Bernhardt.), and imagined by such great creators as Christian Lacroix or Jean-Paul Gautier, reveal all their secrets to us, like true works of art for some. This superb album is thus the opportunity not only to discover an exceptional place of conservation (redesigned by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte), but also, through the work carried out for the development of a costume (for such prestigious scenes as the Comédie Française or the Paris Opera, whose center is the sole repository of stage archives), to highlight the little-known know-how of costume designers.
