Couleurs de Lumière (Book) by Richard Pare and Tadao Ando. 283-page hardcover, like new. French text. Publisher Phaidon.

Colors of Light is the result of a ten-year collaboration between English photographer Richard Pare and internationally renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando. This book presents a unique overview of 27 of his projects, including the Kidosaki House, the Church on the Water, and the UNESCO Meditation Space. The photographs are introduced by a foreword by Tom Heneghan. In the appendix, explanatory texts accompany each of Ando’s projects, illustrated with sketches by the architect. Colors of Light, its original edition published in English in 1996, was unanimously acclaimed by critics.

Richard Pare is an architectural photographer. He travels the world, bringing back photographs that present a personal vision of the spaces he encounters. Without attempting to report or show everything, he prefers to choose a perspective, preferably a new one. He will then capture a detail, a frame to discover a play of materials, highlight a space in his speech with light or the landscape, and convey a feeling. This work lends itself perfectly to representing the work of Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Two trips to Japan were enough to select a series of photographs that present a relevant vision of the architect’s work.
