Three principles dictated this anthology.
First, to address living French artists whose writing practice is a component, more or less claimed, of their artistic approach. Then, to give freedom of choice of texts to the artists themselves, as well as, as far as possible, of the presentation of their approach and the place of writing in this approach. Finally, to claim a poetic or fictional dimension. So no theoretical or explanatory texts of the work but a singular commitment to writing. So let’s not look for a rigid unity. We will find instead a game of correspondences, of sometimes unexpected echoes from one writing to another, but also oppositions, telescopings. The whole thing is intended above all to be a sign of diversity and vitality.
