Amazing oil on canvas glued on a wood board depicting a scene from a Jamaican market and everyday life. Signature of the painter at the bottom of the yellow dress of one of the characters. His mastery of colors, shadows and light have placed this Jamaican painter among the masters throughout the Caribbean islands, starting with his home country, Jamaica.
Born in 1960 in Montego Bay, Jamaica, he showed at an early age, undeniable talent. From his studies, he was particularly influenced by the works of European Masters painters and the impressionists. Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, Van Gogh, Vermeer, Cezanne, Monet, Manet, Pissarro but also by Jamaican artists such as Neville Budhai, Barrington Watson, Edna Manley and Albert Huie are his masters and inspirers.
His paintings are composed of rich color pigments applied with very strong brush. He transcribed scenes around him, atmospheres of the Jamaican daily life. He knows capture the transient variations of light and the atmosphere of the place.
During his last years, he has participated in numerous charities in both Jamaica and the USA.
Died in 2012, Errol Allen is considered the greatest painter that Montego Bay has produced. His work is often compared to the great Impressionist masters.
