In October 1955, several months after Fernand Léger’s death in August 1955, Fernand Léger’s work was published in the publication Derrière le Miroir No. 79-80-81, containing lithographs by the artist. This illustrated book highlighted Léger’s work in the final years of his life. The October 1955 edition paid tribute to the artist by publishing recent or previously unpublished works.

In 1955, Pierre Reverdy was a celebrated French poet. He was one of the major inspirations of Surrealism, known for his influence on Cubist and modern poetry, and continued to write and be admired for his austere work and unique style that sought purity.
