Georges Briata, French painter, has an incomparable technique, attenuated by the spontaneity of his vision, his desire for synthesis and the brilliance of his chromatic orchestration.
Briata is first and foremost a journey. Born on January 5, 1933, son of the Marseille photographer Marius Briata, and Julienne Lugon-Moulin, pianist for silent films in cinemas, he was immersed throughout his childhood in an artistic environment. He picked up the brush at the age of 6, and would never leave it again.
Very sensitive to the atmospheres that can emerge from a scene of life as from a landscape, Georges Briata works on very contrasting themes, as this book shows us. It is with great mastery that he tackles Nudes, Portraits, Jazz and Classical Orchestras, Circus or even Bullfighting, and transcends with passion – by dint of crossing the world – the climates of Japan, Brittany, Marrakech, New York, Camargue, Provence and Louisiana.
