Georges Mathieu, born January 27, 1921 in Boulogne-sur-Mer and died June 10, 2012 in Boulogne-Billancourt, is a French painter considered one of the fathers of lyrical abstraction. He is also famous for his 1974 ten-franc coin, his 1975 Antenne 2 logo, and his postage stamps.

Edouard Lombard, president of the Georges Mathieu Committee, is a leading specialist on the artist and the author of numerous biographical texts on Georges Mathieu. Ann-Marie Perl, an art historian, specializes in 20th century art history. She is a lecturer at Princeton University in the United States. She works in particular on the link between art, performance and the society of the spectacle and the avant-gardes since the 1950s.
