This striking abstract composition on a deep black background evokes a veiled moon, sunset, or eclipse—its interpretation is deeply personal, shifting with the viewer’s perspective.
A perfect companion piece! This work would form a beautiful diptych with another original James Pichette lithograph currently available in my shop.
About the Artist
James Pichette (1920–1996), brother of the renowned poet and playwright Henri Pichette, was a French painter closely associated with Art Informel (the informal art movement) and post-war lyrical abstraction in Paris. His work bridges gestural freedom, intuitive expression, and structured abstraction—characterized by dynamic gestures, bold contrasts, supported contours, and a sense of organized yet liberated composition.
This original signed lithograph embodies his signature style: abstract aesthetics, gestural energy on a strong black field, conceptual depth, and spontaneous yet deliberate form.
