La splendeur des Camondo, De Constantinople à Paris, 1806-1945 (book) by Anne Hélène Hoog, Bertrand Rondot, Sophie Le Tarnec, Nora Seni. Preface By Pierre Assouline. Publisher Skira Flammarion. 2009. 160 pages. Very good state.
From Constantinople to Paris, from the early 19th century to 1945, the Camondo family took part in the exciting adventure, despite its tragic end, that was the process of integration of Jews in France. Heirs to the family philanthropic tradition, Counts Isaac and Moïse de Camondo proved to be knowledgeable collectors and great patrons. These personalities from the art world enriched the cultural heritage of France by bequeathing their magnificent collections, of inestimable value today, respectively to the Louvre Museum and to the Central Union of Decorative Arts. Impressionist paintings and drawings, Asian works of art, 18th century art objects and objects of Jewish worship bear witness to the taste and modernity of these enlightened and cosmopolitan bankers.
