Les Maîtres Du Désordre (Book)  by Jean de Loisy, Sandra Adam-Couralet, Nanette Jacomijn Snoep, Bertrand Hell. Interior Like New, But A Corner A Little Chipped – Delay of 3 weeks. French.

The Masters of Disorder. Exhibition catalog, Paris, Musée du quai Branly, April 11-July 29, 2012, Subject: Possession and shamanism.

Jean de Loisy: president of the Palais de Tokyo, assisted by Sandra Adam-Couralet, art critic, Nanette Jacomijn Snoep, head of History collections at the musée du quai Branly and Scientific advisor, Bertrand Hell, anthropologist, professor of ethnology.

What could be more natural than an exhibition on shamanism at the musée du quai Branly? The question of shamanism crosses the civilizations represented in our collections, and is at the heart of the tangible and intangible heritage that the museum, since its creation in 2006, presents from a perspective that is at once historical, scientific and contemporary.

The musée du quai Branly could have approached the theme in a classic way, and privileged the scientific point of view, the analysis of the anthropologist. But it was not the choice that was made. This exhibition, the first of its kind at the musée du quai Branly, was born out of a meeting with a brilliant and atypical man, Jean de Loisy, a scholar and art historian.
