Magic Circuit (book) by Philippe Gurdjian and Renaud de Laborderie. 160-page hardcover, 2010, in very good condition except for the slightly warped dust jacket at the bottom. Text in English.

With Magic Circuit, a book of some 160 pages and over 180 photos, Philippe Gurdjian pays visual homage to one of the most beautiful architectural gems of the early 20th century, and certainly the most prestigious: the Abu Dhabi F1 circuit.

Philippe Gurdjian has always been passionate about motorsports, particularly Formula 1. Guided by this passion, and with the talent and enthusiasm that everyone recognizes, he publishes with Éditions Anthèse.

What better subject for a work than the one that earned him, in 2010, alongside Hani Rashid, President and co-founder of Asymptote, one of the largest American architectural firms, the Grand Prix de l’Architecture at the Abu Dhabi International Automobile Festival, for the general concept of the Abu Dhabi F1 circuit. A man of challenge—he is responsible for the Bahrain, Magny-Cours, Kuala Lumpur, and the new Paul Ricard HTTT circuit—and a perfectionist, Philippe Gurdjian never leaves anything to chance.

These are all reasons that led H.E. Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, in 2007, to entrust him with the mission of creating a unique Formula 1 circuit on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, featuring revolutionary architecture at the cutting edge of technology and aesthetics.

A successful mission. The Abu Dhabi circuit hosted its first F1 GP on November 1, 2009. A circuit unanimously recognized as the most beautiful in the world… It is therefore not surprising that the prize for “the most beautiful photo of the year” at the same Festival went to a photo taken on this “Magic” circuit!
