Mimmo Jodice is a contemporary Italian photographer. In the 1960s, he began a series of experiments on photographic materials and on the possibilities of photography, not as a purely descriptive means but as a creative instrument.

In the cities he photographs, Mimmo Jodice chooses not to see the ugliness of a certain urbanism inherited from modernist utopia. Only the essential remains: the sky, the sea and the rocks. The few traces of humanity are rare. The whole landscape vibrates with light, while the artist’s subjectivity merges with the elements.

The Gods have not deserted our world. They are there, alive, for those who, in silence, listen to them, look, remain silent, dazzled, they fall into the encounter with the tragic beauty of the world.
