Beautifully printed and bound, this is the English edition of the first volume of Jacques Dupin’s definitive catalogue of Joan Miró’s etchings, published in France by Daniel Lelong in 1984 – Hundreds of the artist’s etchings, including woodcuts, engravings and stencils, are reproduced here in superb color plates that appear as vivid as their original impressions; Produced with Miró’s full cooperation, the catalogue includes three original woodcuts that the artist made specifically for the book – two are bound in the book itself, as the frontispiece and page 9, while the third is the dust jacket.

This first volume of the catalogue of Joan Miró’s etchings was established and written by Jacques Dupin, assisted by Brigitte Videcoq, in close collaboration with Joan Miró who actively participated in the collection of information and verification of the documents that were used…

Several exhibitions and a book dedicated to Miró’s graphic work have been accompanied by partial catalogues that have served as a basis for the documentation of the current work…

We have decided, with the artist’s agreement, to include the stencils in this work, because, although they are not strictly speaking etchings, they are part of the graphic work. We have also decided to classify the etchings and books illustrated with etchings in chronological order of appearance, with an index of techniques completing this classification.”
