Igor Mitoraj, 1944-2014, is a Franco-Polish sculptor. In the early 1970s, fascinated by the pre-Columbian arts, he left for Mexico where he began to sculpt.
In 1979, he went to Carrara in Italy where he began to use marble as the main support, while continuing to work in terracotta and bronze. Igor Mitoraj is considered one of the most eminent contemporary artists. Some of his sculptures, often large, are exhibited outdoors all over the world.
