Capturing the essence of the Noor Riyadh Festival, a spectacular annual arts festival launched in Saudi Arabia in 2021 that transforms the city with stunning light installations, this beautifully designed book highlights the creativity and talent of local and international artists.
Presenting works from 35 countries, creating a dialogue between traditional and contemporary perspectives, the festival’s programming reflects its diversity, including varied exhibitions catering to diverse artistic tastes, as well as site-specific commissions from 35 Saudi artists, including Muhannad Shono and Ahaad Alamoodi.
These contributions enrich Riyadh’s cultural landscape, making the event truly inclusive. These include Janet Echelman’s dynamic visual spectacle, the monumental video projections of Diana Thater and SUPERFLEX, and Carsten Höller’s exploration of time and space through light.
In only its third edition, the festival has already established itself as the largest light art festival in the world, entering the prestigious Guinness Book of Records. Studio Drift’s work “Desert Swarm” notably set a new record for the largest swarm of drone/multirotor birds, further reinforcing its international reputation and prestige.
The fourth edition of Noor Riyadh will return to Riyadh on November 28th for a 17-day run through December 14th. This year’s theme is “Light Years Apart.” For more information, visit noorriyadh.sa and/or follow the festival on Instagram: instagram.com/noorriyadhfestival.
