Picasso, le nu en liberté (book) by Frédéric Ballester, Center d’art La Malmaison Cannes. Marina Picasso. Softcover, like new. 2013. 143 pages.

A selection of 120 works by Pablo Picasso are exhibited from June 22 to October 27, 2013 at the Center d’Art la Malmaison, in Cannes. This exhibition is made up of 90 pieces from the remarkable private collection of Marina Picasso, granddaughter of Pablo and his first wife Olga Khokhlova.

Pablo Picasso’s tireless creative life was punctuated by his amorous passions. The exhibition “Picasso, le nu en liberté” at the Center d’Art la Malmaison follows his graphic journey on the female nude and eroticism through seven decades in contact with his models and muses, a new tribute paid to the artist for the fortieth anniversary of his death.

Painter, draftsman, sculptor, ceramist, engraver, decorator, even writer, Picasso died in his last studio in the south of France in Mougins (Alpes-Maritimes) in 1973 at the age of 91, having left more than 60,000 works. Some, presented at Cannes, are unpublished for the general public.
