Picasso, menines (Book) Galerie Leris. Good condition. 1957. 58 pages. small size.

Les Ménines is a series of 58 paintings that Pablo Picasso painted in 1957 by reinterpreting the work of Diego Vélasquez Las Meninas.

As a Spaniard, Velázquez is in a way a forerunner of Picasso. The latter had met the originals of the “Las Meninas” during his training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. Velázquez’s works were then his favorite objects of study.

Velázquez has always been considered one of the greatest painters in the history of Western art, and it was later when he approached him that Picasso considered himself to be part of the august assembly of the great of art.
