Pierre Garcia-Fons was born in 1928 in Badalona, Spain. Fleeing the Spanish Civil War, he arrived in Perpignan, France, as a child in 1938. By 1950 he had moved to Paris, where he connected with major post-war artists including Cueco, Bernard Buffet, Antoni Clavé, Paul Rebeyrolle, Arroyo, and others.

His distinctive style merges luminous transparency, dreamlike atmospheres, and masterful light-shadow contrasts.
