Poésure et peintrie, d’un art, l’autre (Book) by Bernard Blistène. In Very Good Condition – 1993. 655 pages. Paperback with flaps. Shipping time: 2 Weeks – in French.

The Museums of Marseilles publish a work which takes stock of a hitherto fragmentary and little known history. With the help of the best researchers and theorists, each dealing with one aspect of the subject, the book explores the relationships that have been built, from the birth of modern times to the present day, between poetry and painting. It is not, however, a story of the poets who painted, but more subtly the passages and links that have been established around a poetry that has become an image to become a real plastic fact.

From Mallarmé’s Coup de dés to the calligrams of Apollinaire or Pierre Albert-Birot, Futurist Words on Freedom to Dada games and to optophonetism by Raoul Hausmann or Kurt Schwitters’ Ursonate, Breton poems-objects to logograms by Christian Dotremont, from the zaoum of Iliazd to the crirythmes of Dufrêne, from concrete poetry to visual or sound poetry, so many “genres” that we have kept aside or in the margins of the great aesthetic innovations of the century and to which this exhibition and the accompanying work try to give their true place.
