Peynet’s lovers live outside of time, far from its agitation and its intrigues. For them, only the gaze of the other counts, a world of tenderness, light humor and acidulous poetry that they are building. A perfect romantic evening!
Here is the menu of the meal of this romantic rendezvous written at the bottom of this lithograph:
“We say some larkspur to start, then a lupin pâté with four-leaf clover, forget-me-not salad, bindweed tart and for a drink… the boss’s watering can!”
Raymond Peynet was born in 1908 in Paris. Young, he entered the Arts appliqués. It was in 1942 that his life would change… One day in Valence, sitting on a bench, facing the bandstand, he imagined a little violinist playing all alone in the bandstand and an admirer listening to him. A few years later, the violinist had given way to the poet… and the admirer had become his companion. The public’s success was there.
“Les Amoureux de Peynet” were born! and they have traveled around the world… on porcelain, on scarves, in the form of dolls, in books, on medals, in statues, on lithographs, on everything that symbolizes Love!
