Riva is to boats what Rolls-Royce or Ferrari symbolize to automobiles. Like the extraordinary rise of Ferrari in Italy in the immediate post-war period (1939-1945), the Riva legend was born from the will of a man of extraordinary energy. Carlo Riva transformed the small family Riva shipyard into a true legend. His superb motorboats became the preserve of the world’s elite. Rarely has an object of art and mechanics so closely represented the image of the “jet set,” with its movie stars and princely families admired in Saint-Tropez or Portofino.

This book tells the story of a passionate young Italian who decided to create his dream and share it. Seven legendary models were born from his hands between 1950 and 1970. Their detailed characteristics complete this work, illustrated by Carlo Riva’s archives.
