Robert Combas, born in 1957, is a contemporary artist, painter, sculptor and French illustrator. Influenced by comics and graphic arts, Robert Combas invented a complex iconography that mixes, without hierarchy, scholarly culture and popular culture. This concept is used to define a spontaneous, very colorful figurative painting, with a relaxed execution. Robert Combas was and remains incontestably the leading personality of this group of Figuration libre.
