Saint-Louis Blaise (1956-1995) is a Haitian painter. Born in Cap-Haitien, Saint Louis Blaise began painting in 1971, studying with Charles Anatole and the Bottex brothers. Saint-Louis Blaise turned his attention to paintings of members of the Haitian bourgeoisie, he represented them as figures with round and voluptuous forms that recalled the paintings of the famous painter Fernando Botero, but whatever the subject, his attention to detail was unmatched. Despite their weight, an impression of lightness, suppleness and grace comes out. The artist thus maintained an impartial attitude, even when portraying powerful people.
