Inspired by the human body and nature, his works mimic the forms and movements of organic entities, sometimes suggesting flight or spiritual elevation.

This magnificent book not only presents the architect’s most breathtaking masterpieces in architecture, engineering, drawing, and sculpture, but also reveals for the first time his humanist spirit and eclectic intellectual curiosity, and allows us to discover his references, influences, and inspirations.

From the opera house in his hometown of Valencia, Spain, to the Olympic sports complex in Athens, to the famous Turning Torso skyscraper in Sweden, Calatrava’s legacy as a major figure in contemporary architecture is undeniable.

This book includes a catalogue raisonné of all of Santiago Calatrava’s architectural creations.

Spanish-born Cristina Carrillo de Albornoz Fisac, the author, is an independent curator and art critic, as well as an author. Her work has been featured in publications such as The Art Newspaper, The European, The Observer, and Beaux Arts, among others. In 2012, she curated a retrospective exhibition dedicated to Santiago Calatrava at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.
