Alain Mirgalet – Ferrari 250 GT SWB Red Wreck, original signed and numbered lithograph from 1986.
Extremely rare limited edition of only 160 copies.
This large-format original lithograph (29.52 x 25.19 inches / 75 × 64 cm) depicts with striking realism the front of a completely dismantled and abandoned red Ferrari 250 GT SWB. The hood is open, the front end crushed, the headlight missing, and the car rests on a dusty ground in a dramatic and melancholic atmosphere. Signed and numbered in pencil by the artist in the lower right corner, this work, entitled “Artist’s Wreck,” is part of Mirgalet’s iconic series on dilapidated dream cars.
Quote from the artist Alain Mirgalet:
“The wreck has this extraordinary quality of time travel, an imaginary, motionless journey… When you know how to look closely, these objects still retain a little warmth, the vibration of a soul. Across time and space, these carcasses have carried our dreams…”
