Bronze statue signed by Eutrope Bouret, a remarkable French antique of quality and in excellent condition. Dimensions of the statue =without= its base. 9.84 inches high, 8.26 inches long, 3.93 inches thick. Dimensions of base are: 5.11 X 9.84 inches.
Eutrope Bouret was a French sculptor best known for his neoclassical bronze pieces, he focused on historical themes and mythology. Born in 1833 in Paris, France, he studied under the French decorative sculptor Louis-Charles-Hippolyte Buhot. Eutrope Bouret received commercial and critical success during his lifetime, including being commissioned to sculpt the tombstone bust of the famous French novelist and fellow bronze sculptor, Alexis Bouvier. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon until his death in September 1906 in Paris, France.
