Texts in French and English. In Carrés d’Art IV, Geneviève Fontan inventories the Hermès scarves published between 1937 and 2020. This work follows in the footsteps of previous Carrés d’Art editions. The database covers classic square-cut scarves, primarily in silk or silk twill, with dimensions varying around 90 cm on each side. Carrés d’Art IV incorporates the data for the Classic Scarves from the Hermès Collection, appearing in the database of the 2017 edition, to which are added corrections, updated values, and approximately 150 scarves newly introduced into the database. Namely, those discovered among the old editions and the Carrés published between 2018 and 2020, featuring new and reinterpreted designs. All the Carrés are photographed, with the following information under each photo: name of the carré, name of the illustrator, date of first edition, and date of reissues. The value bar indicates the rarity of the model and the public’s interest in the Carré in question.
