Discover this exquisite original hand-signed lithograph “Le Sphinx” by French artist Francis de Lassus Saint-Geniès (1925–2018), a rare authentic piece of 20th-century French surrealist and symbolist art executed in his signature surrealist-symbolist style that blends ethereal feminine beauty with mythical creatures. In this dreamlike composition a nude woman with the body of a mythical sphinx reclines gracefully, her long flowing hair streaming behind her as she gazes toward the viewer with soft, sensual lines and poetic symbolism that create the powerful “waking dream” so characteristic of the artist’s most sought-after works.

Rendered in warm, luminous earth tones of terracotta, amber, and soft sienna, the piece measures a perfect 14.96 × 22.04 inches (38 × 56 cm) for framing and display. It is an original lithograph on paper in excellent condition—vibrant colors, clean margins, no significant defects—and is hand-signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right. Sold unframed for maximum versatility.

Francis de Lassus Saint-Geniès trained at the prestigious Académie Julian in Paris. His work masterfully merges sensuality, mythology, and symbolism, often featuring graceful female figures with doe-like eyes alongside unicorns, sphinxes, centaurs, and hybrid beings. Highly regarded by collectors of French Surrealist & Symbolist art, mythological and fantasy figurative works, sensual female nudes and ethereal portraits, and signed original lithographs.
