Giuseppe De Nittis (1846-1884) is an Italian painter and engraver.
The development of the General Catalog of Donation required a necessary rereading of the work of Giuseppe De Nittis, reconsidering both the debate on his links with his French colleagues, notably with Edouard Manet, Edgar Degas, Gustave Caillebotte, and his personal contribution to the definition and fortune of impressionism. An artist who in his creativity fully responds to the ethical principle of the movement: that is to say the refusal of any crystallization, always proposing a new visual system, a close relationship between the images and the narrative structure of the painting and where the work becomes a place of indelible and singular “dramatic architecture”.
