Harry Bertoia, it all started with a chair, Decisi Che Una Sedia Non Poteva Bastare (Book) by Gilberto Ganzer. Harry Bertoia: it All Started with a Chair. Very Good Condition, Italian and English Texts
Arieto Bertoia aka Harry Bertoia, 1915-1978, is a naturalized Italian sculptor and designer. 30 years after his death, a large exhibition is dedicated to him on his native land, which intends to give an account of his creative versatility led between the world of art and that of design: in the context of America by Jackson Pollock, Alexander Calder and Josef Albers.
A large space is dedicated to the extraordinary collaboration with the Knoll company, which will begin the production of the famous series of steel rod chairs. At the height of the commercial success linked to the Bertoia chair, he decided, drastically, to abandon design to devote himself entirely to sculpture.
The rest of the exhibition is therefore devoted to sculpture, which brings together, for the first time in Europe, all of its main experiences, from the first geometric works of the 1950s to the famous sound sculptors.
The sound accompanying the event, with critical essays and complete historical documentation, is configured as the most recent monograph dedicated to this brilliant artist.
