A tireless researcher, Jean Prouvé collaborated with the greatest architects of his time. With his tropical houses, he demonstrated that it was possible to industrialize the construction sector by producing prefabricated houses as in the automobile sector. Transported by plane to Africa, these steel and aluminum constructions were assembled on site in 2 weeks! Three prototypes were made in Niamey and Brazzaville between 1949 and 1951. In 2000, Eric Touchaleaume bought these 3 houses, had them dismantled and repatriated to France.

Complete history of the three tropical houses of Jean Prouvé that were built in Africa and repatriated. One of them was reassembled and presented on the banks of the Seine in Paris, another will join the Centre Pompidou next year.

Published on the occasion of the exhibition at the Port des Champs-Elysées, Paris, from October 27 to December 31, 2006 of the large tropical house of Brazzaville, this catalog details the three tropical houses of Jean Prouvé in the form of an album by publishing the majority of the archives.
