Jesus Rafael Soto (1923-2005) was a Venezuelan artist and one of the greatest representatives of kinetic art. With Carlos Cruz Diez and Alejandro Otero, he is one of the great representatives of kinetics in Venezuela.

In 1950 he moved to Paris, where, with Los Disidentes, he undertook the research of movement, which led him to question the possibilities of perception of the human eye. In 1955, he presented with Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp, Victor Vasarely, Jean Tinguely, Yaacov Agam and Pol Bury the exhibition Le Mouvement at the Denise René gallery, marking the starting point of kinetic art.
