JonOne, the chronicles (book) by Théophile Pillauts. 2014. Pyramyd Publisher. 352 pages. New book bound in blister.
Published on the initiative of David Pluskwa, gallery owner in Marseille, this bilingual monograph (French/English) retraces the artist’s journey, from his first graffiti in 1979 to today. The work shows the evolution of his style, increasingly abstract, colorful and favoring improvisation.
A child from Harlem, JonOne took his first steps in graffiti in 1979 and shortly after created his first graffiti on subway trains. He quickly distinguished himself with an abstract style by painting and projecting paint. He arrived in Paris in 1987. He continued to develop his style by favoring color, improvisation and abstraction. Today he is one of the most popular artists in the graffiti world.
This monograph is illustrated by period photos and more than 300 paintings.
This work brings together the testimonies of actors and spectators who witnessed the meteoric rise of the artist: Agnès b., Magada Danysz, Willem Speerstra, Shoe… The texts of this work are written by Théophile Pillaut.
