Keith Haring (book) by Gianni Mercurio, Silvia Bonucci and Jérôme Nicolas (Translators). Lyon Contemporary Art Museum. Beautiful bound book of 366 pages. Publisher Skira. 2008. Very good condition. Very light marks on the cover. Bilingual French/English edition. 366 pages.

From February 22 to July 13, 2008, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon presents one of the most important exhibitions ever organized in France in tribute to Keith Haring, emblematic artist of the New York scene of the 80s. He would have been 50 years in 2008. This exceptional exhibition was entrusted to the Italian curator Gianni Mercurio and is produced in close collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation in New York. It presents an unprecedented collection of works from the most important American and European collections, public and private.

Keith Haring, American painter born in 1958, began by studying advertising graphics. Starting by drawing on the walls of the subway, he eventually exhibited in several prestigious New York galleries, notably at Tony Shafrazi and Léo Castelli. From 1984, he developed a colorful symbolism, linked to the world of media and distinguished himself by creating a unique iconography, with synthesized shapes highlighted in black. In addition to his easily identifiable graphic style, his immense popularity can be explained by his predilection for extraordinary media accessible to all: the metro, city walls, street lamps, even the derivative products that he markets himself.
