Migishi Setsuko, 1905-1999 was a prominent Japanese Yō-ga painter. Migishi is known as a pioneer of the Japanese Western style of oil painting. Known for her use of bright colors and bold strokes in her still lifes and landscapes, Migishi contributed greatly to establishing and elevating the status of women artists in the Japanese art scene.

Exhibition catalogue for the retrospective concerning Migishi Setsuko at the Espace des Arts Mitsukochi Etoile in Paris, from March 3 to May 9, 1998. The present exhibition, composed of 70 oil paintings, seeks to retrace the career of Migishi Setsuko, while showing the multiple facets of her work.
