Moynat, La réussite d’une audacieuse / Moynat, the success of a daring (book) by Michèle Lécluse. Bernard Chauveau Edition. 2011. Excellent condition. This bound work was printed in 1000 copies and is part of the first edition. French version.
“Moynat, do you know? Yes, without a doubt, but your memory is imprecise. And for good reason: in the world of beautiful travel, the brand has experienced an eclipse of some 40 years. Why then wake her? And how to do it? Looking through his archives, the answer was obvious. The history of this trunk maker-leatherworker is intertwined with the rise of transport from the middle of the 19th century. His creations accompanied the lives of refined people, from their first train journeys across Europe to the infancy of automobiles which required tailor-made luggage.
A woman embodied this brand to which she gave her name and for which she ensured its notoriety: Pauline Moynat. She understood the expectations of a clientele for whom creativity and novelty must rhyme with sustainability of know-how. Moynat luggage has spanned two centuries, from the first wicker trunks called “English trunks” to cabin trunks, including custom-made trunks adapted to each automobile, countless suitcases, tea and picnic kits, etc.
Without forgetting of course the small ladies’ bags that Pauline was the first to introduce into the world of trunk makers. Today, Moynat remains faithful to its history. The trunk maker has drawn on its rich heritage to perpetuate timeless bag lines. The refinement of materials and finishes is inherited from the past, the colors are those of the present.
A new invitation to travel is launched with this exceptional book.
