Paul Guillaume et les peintres du XXe siècle / Paul Guillaume and the painters of the 20th century (book) by Colette Giraudon. The Bibliotheque des Arts (FR), 2001. Very good condition. Hardcover. About 150 pages. In French.

Paul Guillaume discovered and was one of the first to organize exhibitions of African art, which he presented first in his garage in Montmartre then in his gallery in Paris. His friend Guillaume Apollinaire, met in 1911, introduced him to the whole of artistic Paris. Thus, in his Parisian gallery, he presents and sells the works of the painters Chaïm Soutine and especially Amedeo Modigliani who paints several portraits of him. During the First World War, he exhibited the works of the so-called “metaphysical” period of Giorgio De Chirico on the stage of the Vieux-Colombier theater, while exhibiting André Derain, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Kees van Dongen in his gallery rue from Miromesnil.
