Discover the Picasso facsimile “Le Carnet de la Californie” (The California Sketchbook), a rare sketchbook by Pablo Picasso created between November 1955 and January 1956 at his villa La Californie in Cannes. This 1999 reissue by Éditions Cercle d’Art (ISBN 9782702205167), faithful to the original 1959 edition, features a spiral binding and is limited to 1650 copies. It is enriched with the poetic text “Promenade” by Dan Franck.
This magnificent collector’s edition faithfully reproduces the original pages: studio drawings, nudes, and still lifes born under the Cannes sun. Dan Franck’s brief and evocative texts are interspersed among the drawings like an intimate literary counterpoint, capturing the mystery of inspiration without ever explaining it. The copy is in very good condition, with only a few marks and minor wear to the cloth-covered slipcase.
A rare piece sought after by modern art lovers, Picasso collectors and enthusiasts of exceptional facsimiles.
