Swans bar (book) by Millie Milliken. Hardback book in English with 60 pages, 60 illustrations and 20+ cocktail recipes. Assouline. Mint condition.
This book includes over twenty cocktail recipes, accompanied by a text by award-winning spirits and hospitality writer Millie Milliken, offering readers the chance to recreate their favourite Swans Bar cocktails at home.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Swans Bar, this book captures the essence of the bar’s most beloved drinks. The majesty of old Piccadilly still inspires ambitions of grandeur, glamour and a golden age always within reach. The playground of viscounts, prime ministers and the Rothschilds, it was and still is the North Star for Londoners and visitors seeking the spoils of some of the West End’s cultural and historical bastions.
And over the past decade, Swans Bar London has become part of the contemporary tapestry of W1A. With an architectural renovation by Guy Oliver and interiors by Prosper Assouline, Swans Bar is nestled in a listed building designed in the early 1920s by revered British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. Maison Assouline’s flagship bar takes its name from the nickname “swans” given to American high society women of the 1950s and 1960s, which writer Truman Capote became a confidant of.
Opened in 2014, as London was experiencing a new dawn of cocktail renaissance, Swans Bar has been offering a range of signature cocktails in a hidden space surrounded by the boutique’s vast shelves for the past decade. Clean lines, aprons, crisp uniforms and minimalist garnishes are combined with five-star, local hospitality, making it a true bastion of elegance and culture.
