Ultra design, the new generation of designers (book) by Laura Houseley. Publisher Thames and Hudson. Hardback of 352 pages. 2009. Very good condition except for the edge of the book which is a little creased at the bottom (see 1st photo). French language.

This book is the first to present the creations of a new generation of independent designers, most of whom are little known to the general public and who have not yet benefited from international distribution. Interest in design has continued to grow in recent years to the point that everyone knows the big names in this discipline, whether it is Philippe Stark, Marc Newson, Matali Crasset, or major brands such as Vitra, Kartell, B&B Italia, etc.

However, this same period has seen the proliferation of a large number of talents all over the world, men and women who create original objects that are at once unusual, functional and environmentally friendly. This book invites us to discover this current and audacious design through five chapters – furniture, lighting, household objects, utilitarian objects and installations – and more than 400 creations.

Each object is presented with a photograph and a descriptive text rich in technical information. This book is all the more valuable because it gives the address of the creators’ website, essential for acquiring the object in question in many cases. Both a guide and an overview, this bible of current design is full of ideas and pays tribute to the immense creativity of the new generation of designers. A superb selection of the most innovative creations by today’s young designers.
